It is possible to forgive through power of Jesus. It is a process. Our human response tends toward one of two ways: we play the tape of the offense over and over again in our minds OR we pretend the offense never happened.
5) Which response is more likely for you? In a fight or flight scenario, you may fight back with words, sarcasm or physical acitivity. FIGHT mechanism tends to make us want to punish the person. You dwell on the offense. In FLIGHT mechanism, you deny the pain, the event or the emotions. You bury it deep thinking you can overcome it alone without anyone knowing.
6) Which mechanism do you do often? It is like planting a seed. If we water the pain, it becomes bitter fruit. If we deny it, it becomes like a weed rampant destroying and choking out the good. This is a great activity to do before your paper on emotional pain.
